Obscene Shell profits should be properly taxed

Responding to today’s announcement that Shell energy has posted a record annual profit of £32.2bn, Heidi Chow, Executive Director of Debt Justice said:

“These obscene profits are built on the back of millions of households that have been pushed into energy debt and poverty because of high prices.

The government needs to expand the windfall tax on energy producers like Shell to pay off the £2.5bn of energy debt that UK households have already taken on to give everyone a fighting chance of keeping the lights on and staying warm this winter”
