Responding to the chancellor’s announcement that household bills will be reduced by an average of £150 a year, Heidi Chow, Executive Director of Debt Justice said: 

“We welcome action that will reduce energy bills, but this will not make a dent on £4bn of energy debt bills while bills remain well above pre-pandemic levels. The chancellor needs to expand the Debt Relief Scheme immediately to make write-off more generous, and include households not claiming benefits.”
